On the beach and overlooking the Umzimvubu River mouth, Ferry Point is one of Port St Johns' oldest and best known family-owned accommodation establishments. Situated across the river from the bustling centre, we offer rustic self-catering cottages and camping in a tranquil setting with the best views in town.
For many years, this has been a favourite spot for fishermen and holiday-makers wanting to experience the true flavour of the Wild Coast, without paying an arm and a leg. In keeping with the tradition of Pondoland, the rates are as reasonable as the facilities. It's a large property at the foot of, and on the slopes of Mount Sullivan, with many self-contained units (fed by some of SA's purest spring water) and a central bar and entertainment area.
Our accommodation options run from small cottages with sea views to a large house which sleeps 12 comfortably. We also have backpackers accommodation as well as camping sites with their own shower block.
Apart from a great variety of fishing, there is a wide variety of walks to be done, both guided and not, through jungle, mountain, villages and long empty beaches. Tours from other guides in the area, such as quad-biking , deep-sea charters or ocean safaris can be arranged.
Security is excellent, thanks to our location across the river - there's only one road in and out, the family has a lot of dogs , and a night-watchman guards the premises.
